Topic: A.E7 The What and How of Teaching Values to Preschool Children

Synopsis: What does teaching values to preschool children encompass? Why does it matter? How do we successfully teach them values?

Drawing on their research project, Constructing Values – Meanings and Implications for Practice in Singapore's Pre-school Education Curriculum, this workshop will be unpack what the four values (respect, responsibility, care and honesty) espoused in the Nurturing Early Learners framework mean in the local early childhood education context. They will also be sharing on the current practices on the ground.

Through this workshop, participants can expect to learn about (1) The local interpretations and understandings of values in the Singaporean preschool context

(2) Considerations for crafting a preschool values curriculum

(3) Suggestions for learning experiences and resources to enact values education in their centres and classrooms.
