Lucy Pou has worked with children with developmental or special needs and their families for close to three decades. As a consultant, she has conceptualised, designed and implemented different service models - of intervention, inclusion and learning support - in Singapore and other countries. Lucy first trained and taught as a teacher in Singapore. She later obtained an Advanced Diploma and an M.A. in Psychology and Education for Special Needs from the Institute of Education, University of London. Lucy applied the approach of Mediated Learning Experience (MLE) with children identified as ‘at risk’ in learning in her doctoral study at King’s College, University of London. She has since contextualised this approach for application in schools, learning support and home support programmes and has documented their implementation in several publications over the years. Lucy actively provides professional consultation to parents, schools and organisations to support children’s learning and developmental needs.
